There’s a God. Only one God, in fact, and He is the creator of everything. We're made in His image, which means we're like Him in many ways, except that He's God and we're not. He's loving and just and desires a relationship with us. As individuals with free will, we have the freedom to respond to the relationship God's initiated with us, or not.

We're free to choose to live outside the realm of the life God has for us as it's explained in the Bible. Put another way, many choices we make either move us closer to God or further away from Him. Making even seemingly small decisions that separate us from God is called sin. We all do it, and we'll continue to do so. And, even then, God will love us and passionately pursue us.

God loves us so much, in fact, that He sent his only son, Jesus, to die so the rest of us could live. The cost of sin was separation from God---spiritual death---until Jesus came and his death paid everyone's debt. That's serious love. Because of that serious, perfect love, this gift from God is waiting for anyone who wants to receive it. This is called Grace.

God gives grace freely and abundantly.

As for us, we need only to decide whether or not to believe and receive this stuff. If we decide to believe it, we have available to us a new, full life that can start now and never stop. And it's OK to have a lot of questions along the way. Although God reveals things to us (including what He's revealed about Himself in the Bible), He remains mysterious and wonderful.

4 things to understand that Jesus taught

Romans 3:23

The creator of the universe is HOLY. "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all". 1John 1:5. He has set laws in place for His creation to obey. What are these laws? They begin with the 10 Commandments. While you might consider yourself ‘good’ compared to most people, how do you measure up against God’s law? Have you ever told the smallest lie? Then you are a liar. “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” James 2:10 (NIV) Disobedience to God is sin.

Romans 6:23

Disobedience to an infinite eternal God deserves an infinite eternal consequence. God shows us His character and His laws in his creation, the world around us. He has also written His laws in our hearts… on our conscience. He has also given us His WORD the Bible. No good judge would let the guilty go free, the criminal go unpunished. Neither can a holy righteous God allow sinful man to go unpunished… but God LOVES man whom He has made in His image and He has provided a way of escape by sending His only son to die in our place.

Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life". (John 3:16)  While he died on the cross, He was mocked, spit upon, and cursed. Yet Jesus cried out, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do…” (Luke 23:34) With such love, Jesus died in your place… knowing every evil act, word, and thought you would commit. What powerful love! He loves you unconditionally even to the point of death when you are at your worst!

Romans 10:9-10

You can never be saved by trying to be a good person, nor can you be saved through any amount of ‘good works’. Ephesians 2:8,9 says “For by grace have you been saved by faith. And that, not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works. Lest any man should boast." You and I can be saved only by confessing our sins and placing our faith in God’s son, Jesus Christ who died  and paid for our sins on the cross. We must also surrender our life to His lordship… placing him in charge of every area of our life because we now belong to him.

Need a Change?

Maybe you are new to this whole church thing.  Or maybe you are just tired of religion and are ready to find real meaning in your life.  Christianity is more than attending church and way more than organized religion.  Christianity is about relationship with the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD.  Our desire at Cobblestone Community Church is to create Followers of Christ.

To know God start with the basics:
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life—abundant and eternal. Because of our sinful nature, we are separated from God. We choose to disobey God and go our own way.
Jesus is the only answer to this problem. He died on the cross and rose from the grave. In this way, Jesus bridges the gap between God and people.  We must trust Jesus and receive Him into our hearts by our personal invitation.  Is there any reason you can’t begin a life-changing relationship with Jesus right now?

1. Admit your need for forgiveness and peace
2. Be willing to turn from your sins
3. Believe that Jesus died for you on the cross and rose from the grave
4. Pray and ask Jesus to forgive you and give Him complete control of your life

After you have thought or prayed, tell someone! We would love to sit down with you over coffee and answer any questions that you might have and just get to know you.
