Maybe you are new to this whole church thing. Or maybe you are just tired of religion and are ready to find real meaning in your life. Christianity is more than attending church and way more than organized religion. Christianity is about relationship-relationship with the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD. Our desire at Cobblestone Community Church is to create Followers of Christ. To know God start with the basics:God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life—abundant and eternal. Because of our sinful nature, we are separated from God. We choose to disobey God and go our own way.Jesus is the only answer to this problem. He died on the cross and rose from the grave. In this way, Jesus bridges the gap between God and people. We must trust Jesus and receive Him into our hearts by our personal invitation. Is there any reason you can’t begin a life-changing relationship with Jesus right now? 1. Admit your need for forgiveness and peace. 2. Be willing to turn from your sins. 3. Believe that Jesus died for you on the cross and rose from the grave. 4. Pray and ask Jesus to forgive you and give Him complete control of your life. After you have thought or prayed, give us a call so we can sit down with you over coffee and answer any questions that you might have and just get to know you.

It seats up to 325 people and parking is available to accommodate that amount. There are rooms for dressing/waiting and bathrooms available for use when the building has been reserved for a wedding, as well as an atrium to receive guests in. There are 2 pastors available to perform weddings, Bob Hostetler and John Johnson, should you choose to use one of Cobblestone’s pastors. Choosing your datePlease complete the Wedding Contact Sheet as that is the document that you will need to send in to request your date. Once that is sent in (through email or mail), we will take a look at the choices of dates you have provided and see if any of them will work. We will attempt to give you your first choice of date, but as there are many functions and/or weddings going on at Cobblestone, it may not always be possible. We will make sure the building is available and that a coordinator, sound technician and pastor (should you choose to use one of Cobblestone’s) are available. Once those are decided upon, we will let you know and send you the Auditorium Usage Agreement. Sending that signed document back with your deposit check is what will solidify your commitment to using Cobblestone for your wedding and guarantee your date. PastorTo have one of the pastors of Cobblestone Community Church perform your wedding, you may either ask one yourself or you may ask us to provide one for you. Either way, please be aware that the pastors of Cobblestone Community Church require that you take a mandatory 12 hour Pre-Marital Counseling program. If your pastor was chosen for you, they will be in contact with you. If you chose the pastor yourself, please make sure you get with them in plenty of time to get the program done, and let us know which one you have spoken with. If you have chosen to use a pastor other than the staff members of Cobblestone Community Church, we must require that your chosen pastor be approved by one of the pastoral staff members. Please have your pastor get in contact with one of the pastoral staff members. If you need contact information, you may ask your wedding coordinator or find it at www.cobblestonechurch.com. FeesThere is a deposit fee of $200 due when the Auditorium Usage Agreement is submitted. The deposit will be returned to you one week after the wedding as long as there were no damages. The wedding fee is $500, due one month before the wedding and is non-refundable at that time. The wedding fee is for the wedding coordinator, the sound technician and any custodial services needed. Please see the FAQ link for additional fees. In order to help adhere to the set timelines, a $50 an hour fee will be applied for going over the time frame agreed upon, starting after 15 minutes. This applies to the rehearsal as well as the ceremony. Use of the ChurchThe reserving of the church applies to the Auditorium, the atrium, any rooms needed for changing, etc. and basically for the peace and quiet needed for your wedding! The timeline agreed to in the Auditorium Usage Agreement needs to be strictly adhered to as there are many other functions around the time of your wedding. Please be considerate of that and make sure that set up and clean up is done in those allotted times. Set up and clean up are your responsibilities, or that of your vendors. Your wedding coordinator is there to help in any way, but of course is not a professional florist, musician, etc. Get ready to ride off into the sunset!!FORM | FAQ

HOW TO GET BAPTIZEDWHAT IS BAPTISM?IT IS AN OUTWARD EXPRESSION OF AN INWARD REALITYWhen a person is “born again” (John 3:3) through faith in Christ, an inner transformation takes place in that person; the Bible says, “the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Baptism signifies that inward change with an outward demonstration. [God] saved us by the washing of rebirth and renewal of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). IT ILLUSTRATES THE CHRISTFOLLOWER'S IDENTIFICATION WITH JESUS IN DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTIONDon't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We aretherefore buried with him into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life(Romans 6:34).Baptism by immersion vividly depicts the change that has taken place in a new Christ follower's life. As he or she goes under the water, it imitates burial...and as he or she is raised up out of the water, it signifies the person's resurrection to a new life in Christ. IT ILLUSTRATES SPIRITUAL CLEANSINGThe Jewish miqva, the precursor to Christian baptism, was a ritual cleansing ceremony, symbolizing the washing away of impurities and sins. Baptism, likewise, symbolizes cleansing from sin. Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water (Hebrews 10:22). IT SYMBOLIZES MY ACCEPTANCE INTO THE WORLDWIDE CHURCHFor we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body (1 Corinthians 12:13). The Jewish miqva, the precursor to Christian baptism, was also part of the “initiation” ceremony for converts to Judaism. Similarly, Christian baptism marks a person's acceptance into the Body of Christ, the true church made up of all Christians around the world and throughout eternityQUESTIONS ABOUT BAPTISMHOW SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?Churches answer this question in different ways. At Cobblestone, while we view other modes of baptism as valid, our preferred method is by immersion, for several reasons, among which are: the Greek word baptize means, literally, “to immerse” every Biblical example of baptism depicts immersion immersion most fully represents the Biblical significance of baptism (burial and resurrection, etc.) Jesus was baptized by immersion (see Matthew 3:16).WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?As soon as possible if you have personally trusted Christ for salvation and have gained an understanding of the meaning of baptism. In the Bible, people were baptized very soon after becoming Christfollowers (see Acts 2:41, Acts 8:3538).BY WHOM SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?Jesus' command is for his followers to baptize new followers. Therefore, you can certainly be baptized by a pastor, but you can also be baptized by any other Christfollower, such as the person who shared Christ with you, a person who discipled you, a parent, etc. If necessary, this person can be instructed by a Cobblestone pastor on the actual performance of the baptism.DO I HAVE TO BE A COBBLESTONE MEMBER TO BE BAPTIZED?No. Baptism at Cobblestone is not about church membership, but about faith in Christ. Therefore, if you have personally trusted Christ for salvation and have experienced new life through faith in him, you are eligible to be baptized, even if you're not a member of our church.WHAT IF I WAS BAPTIZED AS AN INFANT?Many people were baptized as infants; this ceremony is a covenant that believing parents make with God for their child. If your parents had you baptized as an infant and reared you to love and follow Christ, you should be very grateful! If you decide to follow Christ in baptism as an adult, that does not diminish your previous baptism or dishonor your parents' efforts at all. In fact, your baptism to signify your adult profession of faith in Jesus Christ can be seen as a fulfillment of those prayers and commitments your parents made on your behalf when you were too young to make such decisions yourself. Each of us has the privilege of responding to Jesus' call to baptism ourselves, of our own volition.WHAT SHOULD I TELL MY PARENTS?If your parents had you baptized as an infant, we would recommend that you first express your appreciation for the interest and care they took in your spiritual development from the youngest age. Then you might add that now that you have made a commitment to following Christ fully and intentionally for the rest of your life, you would like to signify your decision with adult baptism, adding that your decision actually fulfills the prayers they prayed and the covenant they made on your behalf those years ago. Many parents are thrilled to attend their children's adult baptism once they understand this.CAN MY CHILDREN BE BAPTIZED?If your child is old enough to understand the significance of Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross, and has placed his or her faith in Jesus (which can happen at an early age, depending on the child's individual development), and understands the meaning of the baptism ceremony itself, then they are eligible for baptism. Of course, the older a child is, the more likely they are to fully appreciate the significance of what they are doing, and the more meaningful it will be for them.WHAT IF I WAS BAPTIZED ONCE BEFORE? SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED AGAIN?As long as you were a Christ follower when you were baptized, you don't need to be baptized again. If, however, you were baptized only as a ritual before you really came to know and follow Christ, then baptism would be a good step for you. Also, for various reasons, people sometimes feel a strong desire to reenact their baptism at some point as they were first baptized as an adult. At Cobblestone, we arrange a “renewal of baptism” ceremony, that reminds a person of their baptism and helps them to renew the commitments and intentions they made public at that time.WHAT IF I AM HANDICAPPED, SHY, OR AFRAID OF WATER?Simply let one of our pastoral staff know of your desire to be baptized and of your special circumstances, and they will do everything they can to accommodate you. Your circumstances do not need to stand between you and a meaningful baptism.HOW DO I ARRANGE FOR BAPTISM AT COBBLESTONE?You can arrange for baptism at Cobblestone by contacting a member of the pastoral staff. Their contact information is published in the weekend programs and on the website.Baptism at CobblestoneA decision to be baptized may be one of the most important decisions you will make as a follower of Jesus Christ. Thank you for considering sharing this important decision with us!

OUR VALUESCharacter and Integrity (1 Chronicles 29:17)We at Cobblestone Community Church value character and integrity in our teaching, in our leadership, in our finances, and in our relationships. Outward Focused (Matthew 20:28)We value an outward focus, just as the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve. Biblical, Culturally Relevant Teaching (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 2:15)We highly value the accurate and effective teaching of the word of truth. Broad and Deep Relationships (1 Peter 2:17)We value a broad range of relationships, not just gathering in huddles here and there, but it’s our goal for the whole body to rub shoulders often, students and families, kids and adults, singles and marrieds. We also value deep relationships, and for that reason we emphasize finding support, accountability, and intimacy in small groups. Loving Leadership (Luke 22:25-26, 2 Corinthians 12:15)We value a servant model of loving leadership that does not seek to lord it over others or exercise authority over others, but that seeks to be "the servant of all" (Mark 9:35). Edifying Worship (Hebrews 12:28)We have no loyalties, traditions, or agendas in worship other than to do what Hebrews 12:28 says, and that is to worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. Sincere Encouragement (1 Thessalonians 5:11)We want a spirit of grace and encouragement to characterize the way we lead, the way we follow, and the way we relate to one another in this church. Trusting Prayer (Colossians 4:2)We want to "devote [ourselves] to prayer," not because we believe in the quantity or quality of our prayers but because we believe in the power and grace of our God. Open and Warm Fellowship (Matthew 25:40)We want to make a special effort to make our fellowship warm and welcoming to everyone, and especially to those who might never have entered a Christian church before. New and Innovative Methods (1 Corinthians 9:22)We’re willing to try "all possible means," new or old, to love men, women, and children into lifechanging encounters with God. Evaluation and Effectiveness (1 Thessalonians 5:21)We value constructive criticism and regular evaluation, because that will help us to "hold on to the good" & not waste our time and effort on methods, programs, & activities that don’t work.

Gotta start somewhereCobblestone Community Church is a community-oriented, student-friendly, seeker-aware, outward-focused church serving the Oxford area and Miami University community. Our Sunday celebrations (and other meetings and programs) take place at 4191 Kehr Road, just southwest of Oxford. Everyone can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea prior to any of our celebrations, which begin at 9:00 and 10:30 AM. Usually, it goes like this: we sing contemporary songs of praise and worship, after which one of our pastors gives a 20-30 minute talk from the Bible. The celebration lasts about an hour. We may be the most casual church you've ever encountered. Come as you are, and that can mean jeans, t-shirt, shorts, sandals . . . or something fancier, if you like. Generally speaking, if you're comfortable, we're comfortable. We try to make sure that visitors to Cobblestone can relax, without fear of being embarrassed. We don't announce visitors, and don't make them stand or say anything. We do encourage newcomers to fill out a "program tab," so we can get to know them, but no one will pressure you to do even that. Cobblestone's members and regular attenders support the church financially; we do pass offering bags in the celebration because our giving is part of our worship, but we don't expect others (such as visitors or guests, skeptics or seekers) to give (and we often say so). Come and see!

JOURNEY GROUPSCobblestone Journey Groups... Where Life HappensUpon his arrival in New York City for the first time, Crocodile Dundee said, “Eight million people who all want to live in the same town… this must be the friendliest place on Earth.” Well, eight million might be a bit of a stretch, but if a dozen or so are willing to share experiences and travel a ways together, all kinds of possibilities open up. Cobblestone’s Journey Groups, in all their variety, make a way for that to happen. Life, as they say, comes at you fast… find some friends to share the ride… find a Journey Group.Questions Or Comments: SmallGroups@cobblestonechurch.com

WHAT WE BELIEVE BIBLE1. That the Bible, comprising the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. It is without error in the original writings and is the final authority for faith and life. (Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21) GOD2. In one God, infinitely perfect in love, justice, holiness and wisdom, Creator of all things and existing in three persons, the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 15:26; 2 Corinthians 13:14) JESUS3. In Jesus Christ, wholly God and man, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He is the mediator between God and man and will return to earth to judge all men and establish His kingdom. (John 1:1-5; Luke 1:35; Romans 3:24-25, 5:8; Philippians 2:6-11; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19; 1 John 4:10) HOLY SPIRIT4. In the Holy Spirit, who is present in the world to reveal and glorify Christ, to make men and women aware of their sins, and to impart new life to all who place their faith in Christ alone. He indwells believers from the moment of spiritual birth, instructs them, and empowers them to live lives that are pleasing to God. He also imparts a spiritual gift or gifts to every believer. (John 16:5-13; Romans 8:9; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7) PEOPLE5. That human beings were created in the image of God but chose to sin by disobeying God and in that condition are alienated from God. Therefore, all human beings are born with a corrupted nature, completely unable to recover from their sin and estrangement from God except by a personal faith in Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:26-27, 3:6-7; Isaiah 53:6, 59:2; Romans 3:22-23; 5:12-17) SALVATION6. That people can receive forgiveness and freedom from the punishment their sins deserve, spiritual rebirth, and eternal life not by human effort nor by self improvement but only by the grace of God through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection. Those who turn from their sin, place their trust in Christ alone, and receive Him into their hearts and lives become children of God. (Romans 6:23, 8:1; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10; Titus 3:5-7; John 1:12) CHURCH7. That the true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and that only those who are thus united together as members of the universal Church shall be eligible for membership in the local church. We observe water baptism and the Lord's Supper, but do not regard either of these as a means of salvation. (Ephesians 2:19-22; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:4-14; Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 22:19-20; Ephesians 2:8-10) IN THE END8. In the personal, visible, and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ to this earth, and the consummation of His Kingdom, and in the bodily resurrection of the dead: of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment, and of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord. (Acts 1:11; Revelation 22:12; 1 Corinthians 15:51-59; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelation 20:11-21:8)
